The Italian producer and founder of the Berlin-based label "Sonic Interface Records" has long been influenced by many subgenres of dance music; from electro to techno-acid music before combining them in his pioneering first ep . "Sonic001'' which sees Michael Space gravitating towards a different kind of electronic music, driven as much (or more) by analog sequencers, marked vocals, melodies and experimental sounds between space bass lines and acid sounds of the most common bassline 303 synthesizer, as by drums and percussion. Beyond the ego EP001 guides the listener through a hypnotic terrain: the four tracks fully represent the different phases of an ideal dj set. This broad approach translates into sounds that are difficult to define, and that lend themselves to multiple listeners.A futuristic Techno that can surprise you with sound sensations never heard before!!Artwork by Desidus crew.
Atelier Baros, the 6th release from DisDat, is a 3 track EP by the Romanian master of texture, harmony and rhythm, Petre Inspirescu. The three tracks appearing on DisDat 006 / Ooze 000 each respectively offer singular experiences in atmospheric house, ambient and techno storytelling. “Foc,” “Si” and “Para” are tunes for the dance floor packed with layers of composition taking us back through time to our prehistoric heritage. The sounds of “Foc” and “Si” found on side A, in tune with the sophistication we’ve come to expect from the Dis Dat label, deliver an evocative soundscape where the relationship of humankind to the mastering of the elements––fire, earth, wind and water––can be felt.“Foc” (A1) a pulsating ethnoindustrial house track which spares no time in spreading its storied web, carries strong undertones of universal harmonics alongside the immediacy of bright splashing beats and upfront melodies. With “Foc” Inspirescu awakens the mythological figure of Hephaestus, the divine smith and patron of craftsmen, bequeathing the tradition of taming of such powerful elements such as fire and iron to humankind. Conjured here are the ancient ties binding human development with the essential elements that have become inseparable from our very lives, fire and iron, water and wind, all the while implicating the listener as the present day deity carrying the fruits of age-old discoveries and historicity. The storytelling power of A1 is followed with “Si” (A2) a playful and uplifting meditative groove on the power of the sublime, the awe inspired by the experience of the grandeur found in the universal soul of all things. The full bodied sound of “Si” aided by complex organic percussion work, flightlike harmonies and metallic grooves reinforce our industrial heritage while grabbing the listener for a journey through layers of dreamlike states and spatial reflection. The pulsating techno sound of side B brings together the elements found on “Foc” and “Si” into “Para” an unmistakably tight and danceable track; “Para” has also bloomed into the inauguration of the Ooze label, which will serve as DisDat and ReSolute’s outlet for the techno colored side of the musical spectrum. “Foc si para,” as the saying goes––it doesn’t take long to feel the flight of that raging fire connecting our age to how it all began.
A subconscious inhale of precious tranquillity, Step No.4 hosts a rare and sentimental collaboration between Roza Terenzi and Australian virtuosic enigma jd. An intrinsic connection of friendship, understanding and mutual exchange of instinctive musical roots in the form of EP Third Nature. Divided by different continents, live recordings from a studio in Melbourne have been sent via cyberspace and sculpted into four genre expansive explorations, from new-age junkyard to devious dnb.Textural research is extensively carried out through the records A side; polyrhythms galore as hand drums collide with shimmered shakers; forming tripped out tessellations. A leftfield nod to Madonna drools below the opening track, an anchor for mind-wandering timbre and chordal bliss, glorious saxophone trickles throughout an uplifting swell of suspended melodics. Constant evolution as things progress to a downtempo subterranean soundscape, A2 dropping deeper into pulsating bass, ricochets of drum cuts flickering in and out to haze out rhythmic stagnation yet maintain a complex flow. In contrast, the B side speeds soar, firstly a dreamy, steamy progressive peak timer; playful in nature yet packing a punch. The closer showcasing a sexy sinister side, dark drum and bass where pitched gongs hover and drip, rough and ready bass growls and breaks are sliced and diced with Michelin quality. This highly anticipated pairing proves a contemporary form of analog/electric hybrid collaboration; an endless portal into groundbreakingly tweaked visions and the mergings of minds.
Another big release on SOUNDS. in the rebound. SO8 - Modal "Lovers" from 1996 will be out in September. Don't miss this re-mastered edition!
