New Craigie Knowes sandal acid gamma on a plateau. Shake & Hold. CKNOWEP29

Salt Mines / Life Sciences Division label-head Rudolf C joins us for both our first EPs of the year. "Gamma!" hits hard across 4-tracks spanning techy-acid, futuristic garage, and peak-time rollers. This is the first coming together of label and artist in the form of an EP - following on from Rudolf C's stellar contribution to our latest release in the War Child Fundraiser VA series.

The release of "Gamma!" falls hand-in-hand with the rebirth of Craigie Knowes' in 2021 which sees our imprint leave Glasgow and return to our hometown of Perth, the opening of our new studio / label-hub and a move to self-distribution, operating primarily from Bandcamp for the first time since our label launched back in 2015. Thank you so much for your support, your help has made this transition possible! <3

Canadian imprint SEKS TAPES are pleased to present "Kaiser - Language Development". The Italian-born Berlin-based techno architect provides 4 tracks of cerebral and hypnotic floor shaking late night tools for the label's inaugural EP.
This June, Sweely serves up Closer Energy, his much anticipated debut album on Butter Side Up with original artwork by Sophie Douala. It marks the label's first full length and is a fittingly standout musical statement from the cult French producer.Sweely aka William Montana is a low key figure with a highly regarded sound. Since 2019, he has been turning out well crafted EPs on this label as well as the likes of Gene on Earth's Limousine Dream and Brawther's Negentropy. With every release he mines new ground, whether crafting silky deep house, speedy breakbeats or spaced out techno. As a scintillating live act, he has proven himself to be as creative and adaptable in the club as he is in the studio.Closer Energy finds the artist elevate his craft once more. It's a vibrant and colourful record full of painterly chords and wiggling basslines. Smart found sounds and vocal snippets give each tune a character of its own. Flashes of 80s disco dazzle and perfect pop hooks make it fizz with an irresistibly playful charm from front to back.It opens with melted neon synths and shimmering jazz hi hats, sci-fi effects and daubs of melody that immediately bend space and time. From there, 'Hello Goodbye' gets super playful, with busy melodies and electronic house funk. There is a Detroit feel to the cosmic house of 'Not Part Of It' and 'Keep On Rock'n' is a deep but crisp electro workout. 'Call Me Tonight' brings a real sense of fun to clipped house beats, 'Techy(la) Sunrise' is a lush update to a classic tech house sound, and 'When You're in Love' showcases Sweely's superbly tight drum programming with far-sighted chords that have you gazing off into the distance.'MiniLook' is all squelchy bass and tripped out synths, 'Security (Get The Fuck Out)' ups the ante with a brightly coloured and sleazy electro vibe while 'Energy Bars' is run through with a subtle rush of euphoria that sweeps you off your feet. The feel-good vibes continue on the stylish glider that is 'Closer Energy', an electro tune so sublime and seductive it'll melt your soul, then 'Outro' brings you back to earth with some jazzy cosmic ambience. In signature Sweely fashion, Closer Energy is an album that manages to be high functioning but and hugely fun, with party jumpers next to heady gems and plenty in between.
Recorded during the first few periods of lockdown and originally released as a cassette midway through 2021, O Yuki Conjugate's A Tension of Opposites Vol. 1 & 2 is now to be released as a limited edition, double-disc gatefold LP via World of Echo on 1st April. The enforced conditions of its creation represented a new way of working for O Yuki Conjugate founders, Andrew Hulme and Roger Horberry, a pioneering duo who have worked as close collaborators on multiple projects for almost four decades now. As such, their writing is for the first time divided in two and recognised as distinct, Horberry contributing the shorter eleven tracks that make up Vol. 1 (subtitle: At Variance), and Andrew Hulme the longer four that constitute Vol. 2 (Into the Pleasure Garden). It's fascinating to hear their approaches separated. At Variance is defined by its mostly short-form approach, characterised by an airless ambience that recalls the late 20th Century modern minimalism of Thomas Koner, Markus Popp and the Mille Plateux universe, while in other parts, an element of the grander aspects of Eno circa Discreet Music, though retaining a characteristically gritty feel. Into the Pleasure Garden provides a notable contrast, forgoing the lightness of the preceding eleven tracks and embracing what might be understood as some of the more 'classic' elements of the OYC sound: their storm cloud-forming, heavy weather, post-industrial, fourth-world dystopia. Together and apart, OYC celebrate their 40th birthday this year, but remarkably, even under challenging circumstances, their music still retains an almost mystical power.Future releases in the series are planned for later in the year and will continue with this approach, charting the outer reaches of the individual members musical inclinations. In the meantime, it might be worth giving some thought to start considering this pair an institution of sorts, or at least their own cottage industry.
Suzi is excited to announce its first EP “Too” from NYC based artist Downstairs J who recently released his debut record on Incienso. Downstairs J has a unique way of using detailed minimalistic sounds that feel organic and sharp at the same time. His trademark “friendly chilled-out vibe” can be found in the opening and closing tracks of the record; “Soothsayer”’s slight digital-romance vibe gently starts the record ; “Mana4000” and “Orion” tracks reveal a newer straight forward club side of the producer; the A2 track is a tasty tech-house groover with an incredible amount of sharp bleepy details and B1 “Orion” is a playful crossover between house tech and trance elements. While “Symbiosis” ends the record with a warm and constantly growing flame that feels like an everlasting floating momentum. An overall unique, intimate and adventurous record that rounds up perfectly the very first EP of the label. The visual artwork has been designed by Klara Troost.Written and produced by Josh AbramoviciMastering by Marco from Analog CutArtwork and Design by Klara TroostDistributed by One Eye Witness
