Trascend∆nce on Exarde!

Nothing will stop the globalization of rave? An independent Moscow label continues to answer this question - and invites a very busy person, this time from Italy, to show and tell why the answer is always yes.

Riccardo's can be an example for many artists both musically and in terms of productivity. Co-founder of Imprints Records and the owner of Metropolita, Amazing Stories, and Elma Rivaga, he has composed 4 floor compositions under his new alias - Trascend∆nce. These compositions he calls "energetic and hopeful to dance again” and he definitely didn't bend the truth with that statement.

From the Southside of Glasgow now the south side of Berlin, previously most notably The Burrell Connection, but also Alfie and DJ59, is now fully under the alias Dream_E. Kicking off the self-titled vinyl and digi imprint with a mix of Breaks, House & Techno, "Crushed" follows in hot pursuit of the acclaimed "Dreams On 22" Ambient / IDM album released last year on Pace Yourself and a number of releases via longtime fellow deejays, Craigie Knowes. A donation will be made to The Encephalitis Society following each release.
London-based Kouslin's Le Chatroom imprint presents LCR003; a percussion-heavy release of four tracks from close friends and affiliates.Taking inspiration from rhythms around the world and the uproar within the new-gen UK Funky scene, Le Chatroom once again exhibit their ethos of eclecticism that has found them in the record bags of the likes of Ben UFO and Call Super.Big Brothers' frontman Amor Satyr (also of Parisian collective Boukan Records), channels heavy baile funk on 'Hohohoi', with razor-sharp low-end separation and haunting harmonies.Soreab (Baroque Sunburst/BeatMachine) serves up a hearty cut of low-slung, tribal drum funk with a groove synonymous of Hessle Audio sets.Having recently featured on an R&S Records compilation, plus a release on More Time Records, rising artist DJ Tess presents her new “Mala Femmina” alias and offers up a triplet-based 4x4 groove with relentless icy blows and rotating polyrhythms.Livity Sound's Cando close out with a remix of Soreab's 'Cave Walk'. Racing away with dancefloor panic, the intricacies of the remix shine through via its claustrophobic and pristine mixdown.
Varuna returns to their homebase with a heavy double pack of sci-fi techno jams. Over the course of five tracks they explore a lively space in between murky slo-mo techno and tripped out ambient mutations.
We once again call upon Jorg Kuning for his sonic offerings. In answer, he has delivered four bubbling, pulsating tracks that ooze with organic vitality. The fruit of Jorg’s labour comes shrouded in morning mist from the Black Mountains, their meticulous details expanding and collapsing like dew drops in earthly pools. The record begins with ‘Simmons’. Deep, amphibious sub bass drives the elements in perpetual forward motion. Atonal squeals wriggle through the undergrowth, cutting swathes of space to make room for the chords; whose arrival descend like manna to nourish us in all their microtonal glory. We then ramble onto ‘Transplant’. Joyful squelches tumble around an Entish kick drum; the healing vibrations of which swell with the clinical serenity of the jazz indebted stabs. Pads swell and shine above the vegetation, leaving fractal trails in their wake. The B side marches on with ‘Dripgroove’. The crystal clear, angular elements are playfully squeezed out of Jorg’s machines. The rhythm section approaches us with primeval generosity, until the quaking tension is finally released and the dam is open. The holistic ‘Bodyscan’ concludes the trip. Beginning with gentle warming movement, the energy quickly takes a decidedly more twisted turn. When the sun sets on the shimmering keys, Jorg’s synthetic seagulls signal our return to the murk; the ensuing groove driving us deeper towards the earth’s core.
