A subconscious inhale of precious tranquillity, Step No.4 hosts a rare and sentimental collaboration between Roza Terenzi and Australian virtuosic enigma jd. An intrinsic connection of friendship, understanding and mutual exchange of instinctive musical roots in the form of EP Third Nature. Divided by different continents, live recordings from a studio in Melbourne have been sent via cyberspace and sculpted into four genre expansive explorations, from new-age junkyard to devious dnb.

Textural research is extensively carried out through the records A side; polyrhythms galore as hand drums collide with shimmered shakers; forming tripped out tessellations. A leftfield nod to Madonna drools below the opening track, an anchor for mind-wandering timbre and chordal bliss, glorious saxophone trickles throughout an uplifting swell of suspended melodics. Constant evolution as things progress to a downtempo subterranean soundscape, A2 dropping deeper into pulsating bass, ricochets of drum cuts flickering in and out to haze out rhythmic stagnation yet maintain a complex flow. In contrast, the B side speeds soar, firstly a dreamy, steamy progressive peak timer; playful in nature yet packing a punch. The closer showcasing a sexy sinister side, dark drum and bass where pitched gongs hover and drip, rough and ready bass growls and breaks are sliced and diced with Michelin quality.

This highly anticipated pairing proves a contemporary form of analog/electric hybrid collaboration; an endless portal into groundbreakingly tweaked visions and the mergings of minds.

Physical Education returns for another head-first foray into the tech house we know and love. This time, label-head Baldo steps up to the plate with the four-track Groove Radiance. Joining him are Paramida and Liquid Earth, who dish up two suitably danceable remixes. It’s glitchy, rhythmic musical goodness right from the word go. Hotplay takes the form of a bubbly little opener, one that’s soon re-interpreted by Panorama Bar resident Paramida. It’s her first remix to date and is packed full of low-slung, club-ready groove.Baldo’s 1998 comes next, showcasing an acid-laced, tech-leaning sound that’s ripe for the late night hours, before Liquid Earth rounds off proceedings with a stripped-back, minimal-toned re-work.
After this pair of Leeds residents made waves last November with their first EP for Pilot, Bobby O'Donnell and Reeshy return to lay down four new tracks that definitely stray towards the electro end of the breaks/electro spectrum. There's a sense of continuity, as the first EP's tracks - labelled 1-4, are followed by tracks 5-8, as well as being executed with a proper human touch that not all such machinefunk can boast. '6' is full of spiralling Drexciyan mystery, before being pared down to an LFO-style bass prod. '8' also echoes the former legends of Leeds with its dreamy pads and acid backdrop - something in the local water supply. Definitely funky enough to keep the breaks DJs onside, but with a thorough knowledge of love of 40 years of electronic music heritage at its disposal too, this is one release you should make sure you not miss.

DJ Dex aka Nomadico of Underground Resistance is nearly out of time. So the Replicante is here to get more life... fucker!!! Dame más vida... Qiero más vida!!! There's no time to warm up or over think it... just feel the groove, move and you'll get there. The Off World is here, not in L2 orbit hiding behind the earth. This is the funky dark place that rumbles your dancefloor. His mentor Gaff has something to say about getting more life but he needs to slow down and disappear into the bass. Always on the move, spinning over skyscrapers and rising vertically into the clouds, the Spinner Theme is thumping and sets the mood just right.
First record of the Serialism Records 15 Years anniversary series come from Loquace.Eternal Sunset is the third instalment on the label, by the French artist. His signature grooves and melodies travel between elegant club-oriented Deep House to Breakbeats. The entire ep is a killer on the dance floor and catches the eye on the shelves with the usual full-sleeve artwork by Brazilian visual artist Fernanda Mattos. A must have.
