Venezuelan artist Giorgio Maulini is back in his own imprint presenting his MAU002 EP ‘Bitter Knowledge’. A very delicated piece shifting through various genres matching perfectly Giorgio’s detailed musical imput. A very complete work very easy to listen in absolutly any moment!

Huge support from the heavyweights of the industry keep giving this young talented musician more and more confidence to express himself and to break the barrieres in the industry.

From downtempo to jazzy house, break beats and hip-hop beats. This is must have EP, masterpiece and unique work from Giorgio. Keep your eyes and ears open for his upcoming 2nd album coming later this year… Without a doubt one of the most interesting producers in the scene at the moment.

A1 is a down tempo ambient piece composed by the Venezuelan himself on his piano, mixing rhodes chords and and pads creating a beautifull uplifting and peacefull feel good vibe. A2 is a super housey track where Giorgio shows off his skills at the keyboard with a very Jazzy key progression sending us to a 6 minute beach flavored trip. To finish the A side a heavy roller for the dancefloor with some hypnotic drum grooves, congas and trippy textures served with an uplifting housy synth. A true leg shaker.

On the B side, it starts with a heavy laid back jazzy Hip-Hop beat where Giorgio showcases where his production roots come from. On B2 some nasty housy break-beats melted with some congas and inspirational knowledge quotes from Afrika Bambaata talking about the roots of Hip-Hop culture. To finish this beautifull coloured EP we find Saas’s Jazz the cherry on top of the cake.
A complex construction on the drums shifting from break-beats to 4×4 beat with a melodic masterclass on those housy hypnotic chords makes the perfect cut to end this EP with style.

Continuosly evolving in his production, Giorgio has a bright future ahead.

Vital Detroit label FIT Sound has put together its first compilation here, all with the aim of showcasing tracks from revered label artists Jared Wilson, Bizz O.D., and FIT Siegel. Wilson is now synonymous with wild acid workouts and 303 magic and he serves up more of it here on the mind-melting10 minute 'Mind Travel'. The lesser spotted veteran Bizz O.D. then brings some jack to her previously unreleased bomb 'One Two,' which was recorded in the mid-'90s but still sounds future. Last of all is the label head FIT Siegel with 'No Feedback,' a studio sampling exercise turned experimental broken beat techno workout with hypnotic effects. Here's hoping many more of these will follow.
New label from Belfast - Mystic Arts. For the first release we welcome pioneering artist Calibre, with two deep house cuts
A new Glasgow label Future State opens its doors with an EP from one of the city’s finest, the inimitable Pigeon Steve. It’s a certified trip throughout, whether it’s the acid-tinged breakbeats of the opening track ‘Do You Wish To Be Saved?’ or the hypnotic chug of ‘Chuffalump’ and ‘Trancit (Hypno Mix)’. The record closes out in fine style with ‘Polemico’, a techno-trance beauty with some serious bassweight.
re:discovery records is proud to release for the first time, a vinyl edition of 'Two Zeroes' by Grain for it's 25th anniversary. Grain was a west coast project that emerged out of the psychedelic music and art scenes in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. After a few of their tracks were featured on the key chill out compilations United State of Ambience 1&2 and Excursions in Ambience and many local live performances, they released two ep's on local labels. Shortly after in 1998, 'Two Zeroes' the full length project appeared. A west coast chill out classic that unfortunately did not get much disribution outside the west coast let alone to the world. To classify this album is very hard. Think early Jammin Unit with a touch of the Orb and dash of west coast breakbeat and chill out styles and you still can't fully pin it down. A unique album that sonically, was leaps and bounds ahead of most albums in this style thanks to sound designer, audio instalation architect, scientist and artist Jimmy Johnson along with illustrator and fellow sonic artist Peter Ehrlich. Featured on double vinyl with updated artwork by the original designer, Kevin Hanley and presented on beautiful gatefold with a shimmering silver vinyl to match. This could be one of the discoveries of the year for those that have never heard this album. Dare to Dream with us.
Fresh from DOTT’s “Puppy Luv EP” and Rudoh’s “Vinland In Space EP”, Jugaar Records is back and this time with a full-length, double-pack vinyl, and digital compilation bringingtogether friends from Asia and Europe. The record is testament to the healthy place the Asian electronic music landscape finds itself in and those intrepid producers who are willing to explore new scenes and sounds. It's energy-crew from the off - with UK beatmaker Joe Koshin’s “Astro Wax”, a techy electro work-out that conjures images of futuristic cityscapes and dense urban mazes. Up next, Pakistan-born and label co-boss Rudoh maintains the electro vibe with cut-up hip-hop vocals sprinkled on top of a pulsating bassline in his “KOF”. His records are being picked up by global tastemakers from Emerald to Roza Terenzi to DJ Masda. Don’t sleep!Moving to the B-side, German-born, London mainstay Voigtmann shuffles and deals a steppy drum pattern and intricate synth-work, with a bassline drenched in that particular brand of funk to get the party going even at the most ungodly hour. Observatory resident Nic Ford closes this disk with an ambient excursion that summons spiritual rave voices from the deep laid atop a lilting synth loop. It’s typical of his ambient performances which have gained much notoriety in Vietnam of late.Opening the second record is Egyptian gem Hassan Abou Alam whose recent outings on Naïve and Banoffee Pies have gained him much and well-deserved attention. Here, his“Gloom” combines twinkling IDM modes with heavy sub bass experiments primed to stop the most idiosyncratic dancefloors in their tracks. Up on C2, the Version, 3024 and Phonica Records graduate Yak adds breaks to the equation. His “Disk Full” brings together a haunting gated synth and razor-sharp beat programming to devastating effect. Melbourne based, Salt Mines Records honcho Shedbug concludes this side with his hopeful “A Lil Piece” whose soaring synth line will hit all the right emotional chords at all the right times. On the final side Bangkokian Chalo reminds us why he is one of the masters of this increasingly fully formed scene. His Depth Charge is a muggy dub-laden, electro jam capable of rattling the weightiest sound systems in some of the most twisted raves at the end of some of the darkest Sois. The record is completed by New Delhi linchpin and Boxout.fm resident Monophonik, whose techno/electro “Tumbi” journeys out of the night into a euphoric sunrise moment that will be setting the dancefloors alight come festivalseason.
