Evocative and spooky contemporary prog. Mekine U Teksi has absolutely nailed it to fetishist levels.

Evocative and spooky contemporary prog. Mekine U Teksi has absolutely nailed it to fetishist levels. It sounds like the synths were the only thing keeping the castle warm the night this was recorded.

The whole record it's made even more unnerving by the fact that the 4th track doesn't exist.

Legendary minimal - and acid house before that - pioneer Baby Ford very much set the blueprint for the genre back in the late 90s, both solo and with The Ifach Collective, who featured Ian Loveday, Mark Broom and Thomas Melchior (amongst others). Now they are reminding us of the greatness of that work with the first in a series of reissues coming in 2023. These tunes were originally put out back on the legendary Klang Elektronik in 2000. First up is 'Tea Party' by Eon, M-Core, and Baby Ford, an ice-cold rolling dub. 'On The Floor' with Mark Broom gets more percussive and then comes a solo cut from Baby Ford, 'The Healing' which is as heady as can be and finally 'Word For Word' featuring Cheru Amadi layers up slithers of silvery percussion and cuddly bass into dubbed-out tech heaven.
Halvtrak returns to Cold Blow with techno-romantic rave escapism, riding Chi House-leaning rhythms and intergalactic Techno sculptures. If his previous “Images By Night” dealt with things nocturnal, Digital Dawn opens the curtains to a blue-eyed retrofuturism, bursting with colour and spark. The A-side shows Halvtrak at his most upbeat vibe to date. X-pressed and Rhythm Overture teleport us on a nostalgia trip to the acid, rave and breakbeat era which is re-imagined by an artist too young at the time but who parsed the ethos from the artefacts of its heyday. The B-side throws a deeper counterbalance to the release. Born out of studies in the Chicago house tradition, Phase Distorshun quantum leaps into a turning point in time where disco influence was long abandoned and sights set into the unknown deep space. The closing number, Doubt, does not relent on the 4-to-the-floor but turns the gaze inward, exploring our inner vulnerabilities while musically standing on the shoulders of New York-style house and the early UK-produced Detroit Techno a la B12, Stasis and the like.
Delirium 26 by Silver Zone aka Marco Repetto & Stefan Riesen in the rebound.
Two years after its last V/A, Bamboo Shows is back with the first opus of its ‘Vapordub’ imprint series. Another artifact springing from the depths of the leftfield music scene, this time focused on contemporary psychedelics.Highly inspired by the textures of the vaporwave sonic aesthetic, this 16-track compilation displays in turns intriguing sound design, graceful synths from a new age, weird exotics and psychoactive slow-dubs. Designed to please either curious or skilled ears, this various paves the way for a 90-minute mind wandering in distant, fantasized realms. Featuring renowned international artists, up and coming French projects and obscure aliases in the likes of A Strange Wedding & Camille Claire Olympie, Alieno deBootes, Babau, Bouti, Dean O’Brien Resorts, Dylan Henner, Georgia, Giant Grouper, Herbarium, Horn Chants, Jonnnah, Naomie Klaus, Nuke Watch, Polonius, Salamanda and Vica Pacheco. To be published on a 2x 12” gatefold-vinyl-bundle, including marbled &-transparent waxes and a mesmerizing collaboration between Vica Pacheco for the artwork and Romain Guillo for the design.
La Karambole (bar, restaurant and art venue located in Paris), releases its first vinyl record featuring the renowned tunisian producer Hearthug alongside parisian artists Nemo Vachez, Solal Reyes, and Noiro, to express the unique vibe of the place. The four track various EP oscillates between acid, house, and progressive music. It blends the energy of the artists and highlights the eclectic style of the local parisian music scene which La Karambole showcases.
