Animalia's exploration of the lesser known artists of Melbourne continues with the launch of new sublabel, Cirrus, focusing on non-club, downtempo, ambient and otherworldly sounds from local Australian artists. The first release comprises of dreamy, non-linear modular improvised soundscapes from Melbourne/Naarm local The Soulscaper, a sideproject of Eugene Pascal, member of Animalia's electronic trio Menage. The Inside Voices LP offers a sentimental, familiar musical journey, evocative of the distinctive charms of life in Australia's south-eastern hub. All produced in the northern suburbs of Melbourne/ Naarm, the tracks provide an open window into the studios of the city's deeper side. The LP is a poignant follow on from the musical outputs of Animalia, staying true to the label's deep, cinematic and melodic style.

Jeku joins Craigie Knowes for a trip through the mind on with his label debut the 'Surreality' EP. An outing of the spirit that rides the arc of the night. Club tracks for DJs looking to lift dancefloors and mind-melters to help lead the crowd to the outer realms.
2023 Repress! The Canadian duo M.S.L. debuts on the Clone Dub Series with a heady 4 track ep. Produced by Priori and his partner Edouard Le, the duo delivers tracks that walk the fine line between classic headphone IDM and tripped-out early morning dance floor cuts with bleepy arpeggios, soaring strings, and shards of melodies. Very reminiscent of early F-com releases, The Black Dog, and our own harbor city duo Duplex's early works on Dub and Clone Records. A beautiful release that has been overlooked by many!
Stepback Records next release sees the Moot Tapes and Made Magnetic boss Polytunnel making his debut for the Edinburgh based label. Polytunnel goes deep into electro made for dance floors. His style of melodic electro mixed with breakbeat influenced acid has seen his music gain acclaim from the likes of Mixmag, DJ Mag, Inverted Audio, XLR8R and supported by the late great Andrew Weatherall on his much-missed NTS show, Musics Not for Everyone. Previously released on labels including We’re Going Deep, Seventh Sign Recordings and Childsplay with support from the likes of Truncate, Dan Curtin, Placid, Vladimir Ivkovic, Marvel Dettmann, Ame and more.
Legendary minimal - and acid house before that - pioneer Baby Ford very much set the blueprint for the genre back in the late 90s, both solo and with The Ifach Collective, who featured Ian Loveday, Mark Broom and Thomas Melchior (amongst others). Now they are reminding us of the greatness of that work with the first in a series of reissues coming in 2023. These tunes were originally put out back on the legendary Klang Elektronik in 2000. First up is 'Tea Party' by Eon, M-Core, and Baby Ford, an ice-cold rolling dub. 'On The Floor' with Mark Broom gets more percussive and then comes a solo cut from Baby Ford, 'The Healing' which is as heady as can be and finally 'Word For Word' featuring Cheru Amadi layers up slithers of silvery percussion and cuddly bass into dubbed-out tech heaven.
