The first in a string of 2023 releases from Liverpool based, Brent, comes in the form of four club-ready cuts. ‘Digital Karma’ opens with the nominal track – a dubby, 80’s riddled piece which sets the stall for the remainder of the record. With progressing melodies and an Edith Piaf cameo, it’s a colourful & creative way to start your engines. ‘Don’t Call the Doctor’ answers back as the most atypical house track of the four, taking a surprise twist in the form of rolling triplets and robotronic vocals. ‘Liquid Gold’ launches the B Side with a standout bassline/vocal combination which allows simplicity to do the talking. ‘SOM’ rounds off proceedings with a vocoder-led ode to Liverpool.

XOLOT is a mexican-french duo composed of Vica Pacheco and Apulati Bien, both sound and visual artists based in Brussels. They present on Promesses their debut release: 'XOLOT', an eponymous 6 track EP where Vica’s warm voices and neo-bolero flow melt with Apulati’s cold and evolutive beats. The result is 6 ovni songs somewhere between de-construct dancehall, minimal trip-hop and glacial R’n’B. XOLOT creates music in order to celebrate love, life and death. Their debut EP will be out on the 11th of June in digital and limited edition white vinyl (with a handmade silk-screened cover, designed by Eliott Grunewald).
The first Huerco S. album in 6 years, Plonk’s world does not wholly resemble anything Brian Leeds has made under any alias. His sound palette has broadened to absorb and refine trap’s un-smeared geometrics and drill’s taught rhythms amongst the gaseous bodies and soul-piercing ambience that has garnered such acclaim; Where those previous veins were rooted in the pre-Columbian civilizations of his native Kansas, Plonk reflects the mournful sodium glow of cities at night, street corners that light up with painful moments of clarity you wish would disappear.
