Dear listener,On behalf of re:discovery records, it is with great excitement that we announce the release of 'Ambient7 - Excepts from 1995-2000' compilation. Ambient7 was a threesome out of Japan that included Chica Asamoto, Masayuki Momo and Shuichi Ikebuchi. Chica Asamoto, an accomplished saxophone player while Masayuki Momo and Shuichi Ikebuchi both talented synthesizer players and producers in their own right. Together, they released 3 full albums during a 6 year span from 1995-2000. Ambient7's sound was a blend of chill out styles including ambient, techno, balearic house and everything inbetween. A unique and heartfelt far east version of chill out music going on at the time like what you would have heard on Waveform Records, Silent, Quango and many beloved other labels. While it was hard to pick out just one EP's worth of tracks from 3 full length cd's, we felt these that were chosen is a great collection and examples to fit the vinylmedium. Also, that this record could be equally appreciated in the hands of chill out aficionado's, music collectors or brave and ecclectic DJ's. Those 3 customer bases are always on our minds to make happy here at re:discovery records. The track 'Escape' covers most of the A-side. A soft ambient techno track with a touch of dub that is sure to sit along the greats of genre and the time. Surrounding 'Escape', are two short but worthy examples of the Ambient7 sound. First, is the unique tribal attention getter that is 'Prologue' then ending with the beautiful balearic saxophone serenade that is 'Epilogue'. The b-side might throw you for a loop after hearing the first side. 'Deep Sea' comes in just under 11 minutes that has to be heard to understand what is harder to explain. The balancing of mood is particularly interesting. How something can be so hauntingly relaxing yet can evolve into something so ominous and mysterious had to make this EP collection. We wont say much more. Check it out and make up your own mind. Turn up the volume, close your eyes and enjoy the trip! Lastly, is the balaeric ambient house lullaby that is 'Orange Sunshine'. Some who have heard this track call it a reason to buy the record alone for not even hearing the other tracks on this EP. A standout and a perfect set opener or closer, this is sure to be the re:discovery track for the summer for 2022.re:discovery records wants to thank the Ambient7 members: Chica Asamoto, Masayuki Momo & Shuichi Ikebuchi for being great to work with and allowing us to highlight some of their amazing music. It is our hope that these will influence them to make future music together after a 20 year absence and that others will seek out the rest of their works from this period. It is also our hope that these bring you as much happiness as they have brought us and that this release gives them new life to a new audience and a special fond memory to those that knew them. Die Orakel presents three spaced out excursions by Koehler.
Jochem Peteri comes drifting back into earshot with some new NWAQ tackle in tow. Beyond the plentiful reissues of his timeless earlier works, Peteri is just as productive in the here and now. Now he’s minting a new label with three pieces that embellish the NWAQ soundworld with a fresh slant. ‘Above II’ is a crystal clear beam of light strapped to a kick that trips over itself with grace and poise. It’s forthright and yet wholly untethered, a pre-echo for the anchorless expanse of ‘Above I’, which buries some heavy bass ruminations very far down in the mix. That leaves it to ‘Dume’ to come staggering out all bleary-eyed, caked in last night’s distortion and yet still exuding a cracked beauty that stands up to the first light of dawn. The artwork which adorns this record is by environment sculpting internet artist Jan-Robert Leegte. NWAQ has always stood for a kind of environmental immersion, and this new emission compounds that idea in three distinct, refreshing ways.
Undersound returns for its third Various Artists compilation! Following the tradition of the previous outings, we present a mix of veteran producers and fresh faces but, most importantly, 4 newcomers to the label. The record kicks off with a “Cyberbells1”, a previously unreleased track from the legendary duo Human Beings composed in their hardware-laden studio in Utrecht in 1996.For the rest of the EP, we welcome three upcoming producers to the label: Caramel Chameleon, Anton Vegel and Limile. “Toxic Food” is a breaky number from the Italian IDM prodigy, where he showcases his trademark sound with emotional detuned melodies and vocoders. “Hologrammatic Waveforms” is inspired from Detroit Electro and crafted live with moving basslines, catchy melodies and smooth chords. “Tuesday” closes this compilation with its emotional overtones over up-tempo broken drums.
UCC Harlo and NY Graffiti team up for the second release on Peace Anthem Records. Alternating between bleary-eyed impressions and tightly articulated expression the artists forge a path laden with plangent sound, muted color, and circular forms. Ketamine-paced grooves, baroque miniatures, hazy-humid sonics, and dub inflections populate this domain. Each delivers one original and a remix of the other’s track.
London's Silverlining returns to his solo-only home, Silverlining Dubs, for this two-tracker that sees him exploring previously unexplored sonic territories for him. ‘Comares’, written in the rolling hills of Andalusia, draws influences equally from the rhythms of UK breaks from the past decade, as it does the blissed-out melodies of early nineties halcyon rave. ‘Downtime’ heads straight for that centre right spot of the dancefloor, right in front of the booth, where the heads congregate. Its snappy 909 drums, heady bassline, tearing acid line, and cut-up vocals blend perfectly as one hearty underground broth. This is the first original release to be produced and mixed in Silverlining’s new Cabin Studio in South London. We'll spare you the list of names but this has had early support from some of the industry's finest!
