“Illegal Rave Tapes” is the first ever wax treatment for Acrelid, courtesy of Dance Data Records. Originally comprised of 134 tracks, this distilled collection is a snapshot of John Lee Richardson’s archive of music from between 1999-2012. Since the ripe age of 12, he’s been drawing inspiration from the UK rave scene in the 90’s that he found himself in. That spark was the beginning of a lifelong obsession. He set out to capture the essence of what he felt and saw surrounding him during that time; whether it was via recording loops out of a playstation 1 to cassette / CD or borrowing any other gear he could get his hands on / that people would lend him. What’s less important than all the gear he used are the sounds he captured with them. “Sinister beats” that all share a driving quality of rhythm, spanning across smudged influences from jungle to acid and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop transmissions. It’s clear from the tunes that this is someone who’s clocked 1000’s of hours tinkering and refining his sound, and who has squeezed every function out of his machines, just for the fun of it all. Having seldom released music since the 90’s, John’s been waiting for the right moment to share it with the world, and this collection has very much been worth the wait."Words by Jesse Sappell
Anechoic produced a concept EP inspired by the orbit, and the gravity from a smallest subatomic particle to the largest star. This 4 tracks vinyl EP + a bonus digital track is carefully constructed to represent the repeating path that one object can take around another one. The gravity represents the harmony of the tracks that keep them playing without intersect. Each track has its own eccentricity - this is the amount an orbits path differs from a perfect circle. So imagine all of the five tracks playing together, everyone has an eccentricity different from zero to the centre, each one has its own path, and a certain amount of time to make one complete orbit, this is the analogy with the concept EP 'Geosynchronous Orbit'.
From Detroit he delights us with a techno dub we needed in our bag. A unique power and sexy groove infused by hip hop roots. The Detroit guy Gari Romalis is now joining Secret Society family and add his solid groove quality we’ve been looking for since our inception.Harmonic beauty is provided by Irish Derek Carr, bringing out his synthesizers full of energy and chords that characterize him in Ep after EP. Super collage of swimmers by Macarena Langlois.
Probably the ultimate detroit's filthiest record on casa voyager. A1s Only.
Manchester-based producer Pach, who you may remember from his much loved 'Pull Up & Dance' anthem on Darius Syrossian's popular Moxy Muzik label last year, produces a generously proportioned four track EP for the Aesthetic stable. Take note of the title, as it dictates the contents, with the A-side's two tracks, the title track and '21 Bump Street', proving to be the definite uppers, both adding a delirious feel of disco euphoria to a sturdy tech-house framework. The flip side features the slightly darker and more mysterious cuts 'Sticky Fingers' and closer 'Six N Switch', the latter featuring the sound of some rather decadent X-rated activities in full swing. Nice work if you can get it.
area127 brings a fresh collab between Tadan and V2 - exemplifying the label's ethos of bringing artists together for raw live sessions. This release is the result of one deep-night experimental session. Made without a plan, but expect some sssshhhhaakers throughout.
