It is with honour & pleasure that we present to you the return of one of the finest in game! Active since god-knows-when, and equally known as artist, label owner, event promoter and all-round champion of all that’s right and proper,Semtek has cast a long shadow in the electronic underground over the past two decades. RAD-SEM1 is two tracks of ice-cold club cuts that capture the chilly futurism of second wave Detroit Techno, the sparser fringes of UKG and the abyssal soundscapes of late 90s DnB.
When it came out in 1996, Anthony Teasdale’s ‘Deep In NW5’ was regarded as one of the key records of the UK deep house scene. Since then, it’s become an acknowledged classic on the MC Projects label. Now it’s back – as part of a five-track EP of deep house and electro – that shows Teasdale’s knack for melody and dancefloor sophistication is as strong as ever. The new edit of ‘Deep In NW5’ keeps every element of the original but shortens the running time a little, and adds punchier drums more suited to today’s clubs. The second track, ‘Jan’s Hammer’, is influenced by the electro records Teasdale loved as a kid and the theme music of ’80s cop shows. Fans of Miami Vice – and ‘Crockett’s Theme’ in particular – will get the reference in the title.Flip over for ‘In Deep We Trust’, which mixes gentle, Rhodes piano melodies with punchy four-to-the-floor beats. Imagine Mr Fingers working with Boards Of Canada, and you’ll get the idea. The next tune, ‘Entwined Minds’, holds a special place for Teasdale. A tribute to Andrew Weatherall (who Tony remixed in 1997), it’s a slice of dancefloor electro-house with a gorgeous string breakdown. And when those 808 drums kick back in, it bangs! Finally, ‘Resonant Pianos’: another deep-houser, this time made up of rumbling classical piano and haunting orchestration: the perfect way to finish off this most accomplished of EPs.Teasdale says: “I’d always wanted to make an EP on which every tune is brilliant – and you change your mind on which one’s your favourite. I also like to give people value for money: the five different tunes here, all of which I’m proud of, represent that.”
Minube and friends join the Purple Print roster with a wide range of minimal goodness
Seven Hills is joining forces with their esteemed friend Bobby. over at Pleasure Club to roll out a brand new collaborative series: Seven Pleasures. They will be bringing the best from both with a run of seven sinfully good releases to ignite the senses.
Adam Curtain & Ste Roberts team up for their new project "Adam & Steve".
Next up for the 7th installment Domesticated, we have 5 mechanical club tools from Ukraine-based Kiddmisha. Varying in style, and groove & playing with syncopation, and hypnotics, the tracks cast a druglike mood onto the floor. Essential wax for DJs who are often playing long sets, this record can act as a glue that binds and solidifies any masterful set. Massive tip for a more discerning listener!
