Islenskur turbonutter, Volruptus, contorts your expectations for the third and final 12" on International Chrome in 2023, basssalina yeee, reciprocating 2021's huge collaboration with Jensen Interceptor on the former's Sweaty Records imprint.Endlessly inventive, the five tracks on the EP stretch and warp the concept of electro and bass music into new dimensions by adding just the right amount of odd, whether in the form of spaced out filters, unexpected pauses, or non-repetition.From the space shanty of Ibex (which unsurprisingly for a track at 160bpm slaps just as hard when slowwwwwed riiiiiiight dowwwn) to the slightly more traditional hardcore of Brain Computer Interface, Volruptus wrings new sounds out of the traditional warp and weft whilst never forsaking the dancefloor.

Undersound marks its 20th release with a collection of tracks from Scatterbaux. While the producer has a few sparse releases online, he displays considerable dexterity on these hardware jams.The A-side heavily features the classic 303 synth and opens with “Ghosts On The Wing”, where the artist is experimenting with an 8 bar acid pattern overlayed with dreamy leads and pads. This is followed by “Acid Squabble”, where two 303 lines bounce off each other exchanging their filter positions conveying a range of feelings and emotions.The B-side follows with “Chamber 27”, an electro jam with 808 drums and a driving 101 bassline. The EP closes with the fast paced “Womp Bucket”, with its evolving drum patterns and emotional overtones, completing a showcase of the producer’s signature acid tinged style.

While digging for music at Snickars records in Stockholm, local producer, DJ and promoter Maya Lourenco aka Parallax Deep came across two classic goa/psy tracks. These were ‘Gobi Desert’ by 100th Monkey & Tristan (released on Matsuri Productions in 1995) and ‘Bunker’ by Four Carry Nuts (released on Aurinko Records in 2000). She took the records home and began working on creating her own edits by expertly slicing and re-arranging different sections of the tracks and coming up with her own unique versions staying true to the original identity, giving new life to two classics from decades past.
