'23 repress of ‘YES.DJ’ by Simo Cell – his first solo record since 2018 – released on his own label TEMƎT. A celebration of dance music culture, each of these heavy-duty, titanium-plated bangers are a tribute to different styles of beats.
The second release on Lapse records welcomes UK Tech House mainstay Len Lewis, who’s extensive catalogue of club music stretches across the last few decades, along with newly appraised London based DJ and producer Mariiin. The split EP supports a four track selection of old and new head down club music touching different moods.Len’s inserts lead on the A side with the carefully sampled Matrix acapella laid across “Morpheus”, a tweaking and dusted 2 step thrill, in keeping with the left leaning spooky tone of the first Lapse release and label sound. “Do U Want It” follows in similar ilk to the self professed Sinister tech house sounds previously ventured on the likes of early Swag and Poodle Records releases of the early 2000’s that became essential points of reflection for the genre’s progression since. The B side spans a more contemporary 4x4 influenced thread of this style that circles closer to the outer rims of techno and acid. The Italian born producer joins the label with the “Snake Is Changing It’s Skin” and “Impasse” which continue fittingly to carve their signature sound, a style consistent in their early releases on the likes of BPR and EYA Records and across their DJ sets as Pleasure Club resident.
Paryìa label head Marie Montexier announces the third installment on her imprint. After kicking off the label with records by a.b.u.3.0.3. and Small Crab, Marie is having the Vancouver based acidic specialist Overland, who delivers three cutting-edge dance floor tracks that showcase her rich and versatile fusion of classic acid techno patterns and distinctive bass music rhythms.Rounding off the record is a remix from the Chicago based up-and-comers Purelink. In contrast to Overland’s dark, fast, and bassy sound, Purelink re-arranged a trippy downtempo version of ‘Paloma’, resolving in the delicate, yet deliberate, chillout ecstasy, they are best known for.
Proper 90's Acid Trance feel, limited hand stamped copies!
This fifth EP in the Steve Rachmad re-issue series contains a colorful combination of three tracks from different releases. Side A brings the sought after track 'Teknitron', originally released on his 3rd EP, originally released under his short-lived alias Black Scorpion back in 1995. 'Transpose' is taken from his first Sterac EP from 1994, while the last tracks 'Alastria' comes from his second album Thera, originally released in 1998. All tracks are re-mastered of course. Steve Rachmad's richly melodic strain of techno has resulted in a huge body of work he has been growing since the early 90s. His sound is the perfect distillation of machine soul - dubby atmospherics and crisp, danceable dynamics balanced in perfect unison. Amsterdam's Delsin Records gathers together some of the Dutch techno figurehead's most important, sought-after works in a new EP series, all remastered from the original DAT tapes from Steve's archives. Baby with a Halo is the newest record by Montreal based artist Ura. The songs on here feel like little organisms. While familiar genre references may shadow the pieces, from the faint ash of reminiscence comes something tactile and singular to the person who sat with the sounds and felt how they might coexist. Everything is rhythmic, the textures arrive, disappear and respond to each other in ways that could make you forget there was someone behind the controls all along. The result is full of love and ambiguity ~ choose ur own journey.
