We Out Here is the highly anticipated debut EP from Dublin’s Plus One on First Second Label.

We Out Here is the highly anticipated debut EP from Dublin’s Plus One on First Second Label. The prolific musical polymath lays down 4 sub-wrenching club tracks indebted to hardcore futurism with a canny pop sensibility.

Plus One is an alias of cultishly adored producer Matt Finnegan, a veteran beatsmith behind multiple productions for Irish rapper Kojaque, amongst other impressive credits on an expansive CV. He concurrently eyed up the dancefloor, stocking an impressive hard drive of unreleased club tracks that were subsequently rinsed heavily by the likes of Ben UFO, re:ni and EMA to name but a few.

This is his solo debut proper, and comes impressively fully formed from the off. We Out Here starts the engines with a deliciously sub-y stepper of epic big room potential, with a fittingly large bassline to boot. Hood Up Head Down is suspended in an aqueous ambient-drowned RnB bath before unfurling into lush 2-step in romantic fashion. Kiki bobs assuredly along a breaks-y techno pulse amongst a twinkling twilight melody and an emotive reese-bass stunner of a line. Me concludes the EP on a necessary 160 tip, flexing a modern jungle rinse out with sharp amens and soaring melodic subs to round off this statement of intent. - Nevan Jio

Launching in early 2023, Santo Tomas is the first label from Berlin-based artist Revivis. The English producer kicks off his new imprint with an innovative four tracker - “Trip To Luzon.” Showcasing a deep yet progressive sound and shift in direction musically, tying together the artist’s wide influences and showcasing them in his club room dynamic sound. Revivis chose the Santo Tomas name as an homage to his Filipino roots, acknowledging his history and bringing it into his most personal project yet. The artist’s trademark energy can be found in the tracks, but he explores new territory in terms of mood and the atmospheres he presents within the release. Halvtrak returns to Cold Blow with techno-romantic rave escapism, riding Chi House-leaning rhythms and intergalactic Techno sculptures. If his previous “Images By Night” dealt with things nocturnal, Digital Dawn opens the curtains to a blue-eyed retrofuturism, bursting with colour and spark. The A-side shows Halvtrak at his most upbeat vibe to date. X-pressed and Rhythm Overture teleport us on a nostalgia trip to the acid, rave and breakbeat era which is re-imagined by an artist too young at the time but who parsed the ethos from the artefacts of its heyday. The B-side throws a deeper counterbalance to the release. Born out of studies in the Chicago house tradition, Phase Distorshun quantum leaps into a turning point in time where disco influence was long abandoned and sights set into the unknown deep space. The closing number, Doubt, does not relent on the 4-to-the-floor but turns the gaze inward, exploring our inner vulnerabilities while musically standing on the shoulders of New York-style house and the early UK-produced Detroit Techno a la B12, Stasis and the like.
