Funky techno meets hardgroove from the heart of North America - that’s the mission statement of new Washington, DC based label, Floorspeed. In its first release, Floorspeed invites two of the most exciting contemporary US producers at the moment: 1morning representing Los Angeles on the A side complimented by Detroit’s own 2Lanes on the B side.

“Lifeform” kicks off the A1 slot, showcasing a party-rock Beltram style beatdown peppered with comforting chord pads and stimulating arps. Ready for peak time blastoff! A deeper groove takes control in A2’s “Thought Pattern” shifting the energy to a locked, hypnotic close-your-eyes moment. A pattern to get lost in and one that flexes 1morning’s range of techno expertise.

“Follow The Rabbit” flips the script as a certified red-pilled hardgroove banger. Buckle your seatbelt on this B1 as 2Lanes takes you down the wormhole and through the other side over a 7 minute relentless drive. “The Bounce Route” closes out the record on a funky note with a frisky bassline, high spirited sampling and playful dub sirens for a continuous dancefloor switch up. You can find this one at the intersection of groovy and sexy.

For Reflection 3 we give a warm welcome to Suddi Raval who has had releases previously as one part of Together on FFRR, Thumbs Up Magic, Gorgeous Records and his own imprint T-Wax Records. He has always been involved in the music scene over the years and although known for his love of Acid House, here we see him delve in to the world of Electro.Suddi re-ignites his passion and serves up 2 Electro jams that are packed with heavy beats, bleeps, big basses, modulated leads and have that authentic original 1980s Hashim-like feel.Scott works his magic on 2 Electro cuts with rich pads, reverses, modulated leads, crisp drums, panning keys, warm basses, eerie soundscapes, processed and gated vocal samples, Mantronix-esque bass sequences and rolling toms. All 4 cuts reflect on how Electro was in the 80s and remain as pure as the stuff being made then.
The sixth edition of the Luther Vine-curated Fragments Of Reality offers up four new workouts bulging with urgency and style. Upfront and upbeat disco house from Rhythms of Prescott opens the collection like a volcanic eruption, 'Three One Two' being the work of Irish-born, London-based Wizkid, definitely a name to watch out for. 'Dress 2 Sweat' by Aguila follows, with 90s-inspired filtered vocal samples gliding on top of a warm, sun-kissed bassline. Flip it over for 'Delayed Fizz' by Douwe and Picasso with its chiselled grooves and urbanesque electro twists, while the brassy, cheeky 'Unintended Consequences' by Tom Frankel completes the set in style.
Well it had to happen eventually didn’t it. I have been thinking about releasing a DnB record for a long time but had stalled as I hadn’t been finding myself playing up at that tempo and I always want to be able to play the label records out as much as possible. Nowadays I am so all over the place when it comes to tempo that I could easily find myself reaching for 160-170 tracks and so now seems like the perfect time to release some music up at those speeds.
First split on ROOM record, a bipolar EP between Berg Jaar & Breekbaar. Raw packaging, no bullshit description... Let the music do the speaking.
After a long period of significant changes, comes a release that will set a mark on the label, in this pack the tempo has risen up, the usual chords, delays & reverbs this time evoke (till a certain point) an almost extinct sound where techno and trance manage to go hand in hand in a stylized and subtle way that in today´s field is hard to find. This release, aside from being the artist's first solo reference, also marks an evolution of the label's sound towards new horizons without losing the essence that has characterized the brand from the beginning.Long live the 10th.
With this release the label celebrates the return to the ranks of the founder Worg. A triumphant homecoming comparable to that of Jason, the main character of the Argonautica, who travelled in search of the Golden Fleece (Il Vello d'Oro) aboard the ship Argo. After many vicissitudes, the hero returned to Iolco, his homeland, to reclaim the throne usurped by his half-brother Pelias. This new chapter in the Lykos saga focuses on the deeds of Jason and the Argonauts, but also on a key figure who was indispensable to the success of this quest, Medea. Thanks to her and her magical skills, the fellowship of heroes succeeded in grabbing the Golden Fleece. Through careful sound design, hinted melodic cells and complex rhythms, Il Piano di Medea by Worg, sums up details and facts related to this extraordinary legend. Starting from the prophecies of the Oracles, to the tragic and bloody ending of the epic poem, which took place with the death of King Pelias by his own daughters, hypnotized and manipulated by Medea's magic. The narrative begins with the track Oracolo, characterized by a syncopated groove, nebulous atmospheres and the presence of a dark anthropomorphic synth, which alludes to the solemn, grave and authoritative voice of an entity. A prophetic spirit that warns the listener of the dangers that lurk for those who dare to enter this new sonic adventure. In order to foretell the future and to spread their word, the gods took possession of the bodies of priests who had fallen into ecstasy, using them as intermediaries. In his reinterpretation of Oracolo Neel, the grand Maestro of techno, in a similar way uses musical elements such as a harsh and acid bass line or a tight rhythm to lead the listener into a psychic state of suspension and mystical elevation. In the music piece Il Vello d'Oro, Worg draws attention to the rare preciousness of this magical relic, rumored to have the power to heal all wounds and for this reason longed by Jason. To evoke the purity of the golden mantle, the artist uses shimmering percussion, radiant textures and the omnipresence of an FM synth bass, full of brilliant harmonics. All enhanced by sound details scattered throughout the arrangement.Eryx, the record's final track, has a fluid and sinuous flow, with sound elements that recall water, a natural element, protagonist of the Argonauts' journey to the remote Colchis. A melody echoes in the distance, disappears and resurfaces to then collide, like waves on the rocks, with the complex and jagged rhythms that mark the gradual evolution of the track.
