Parallel Minds' 4th label release comes via a long-time friend of the label and one of the city's most idiosyncratic artists, Vibrant Matter. A drummer, producer, film composer, DJ, and a veteran of the city's experimental pop scene, Kieran Adams' music has intrigued us at the label for a long time. From label co-founder Ciel's early days as a local promoter/DJ, she had been inspired by Adams' psychedelic & percussive DJ sets and found a kindred spirit in someone who shared similarly diverse musical interests. After two distinct & spellbinding releases on ACT!’s (fka Egyptrixx) Halocline Trance and beloved experimental label Seance Centre, PM cofounders received a batch of demos from Adams that felt too ideal to pass up. Encompassing everything from abstract improv performances, sound poetry, dub riddims, voice notes from friends, jazz drum breaks — the tracks were simultaneously confounding while still firmly rooted in club music. Syncrete began in 2019 as sound experiments made with the artist's newly purchased Moog Matriarch. Chopping breaks, working with field recordings, and utilizing the instrument's delay, gate, filter, Kieran recorded himself doing long jams of synth and percussive textures that were formed into new rhythmic sequences and variations. Two years later, he went back to those sessions and plucked out his favourite loops and built new tracks around them, which you find here in this collection. For Kieran, this was an exercise in distillation and shedding, aided by the passing of time. In following this process, he was able to combine many different facets of his interests, and with time, pinpoint the most touching parts of each recording. There’s this really beautiful and haunting quality when for a moment through the fog of these compressed sounds, you can momentarily pick out a human voice, or a distant echo of a breakbeat, this feeling of a barely discernible shape in the sonic mist is what gives the EP a haunting emotional resonance & distinct musical texture.
Animalia mainstay Sam Brickel returns with the Pulse of Life LP. A diverse, dreamy & lighthearted embodiment of Animalia's signature style. Genre spanning, deep, cinematic & playful, the LP dips between bass-driven grooves, bouncy tech-house & jungle inspired euphoric rollers. A listening adventure for various contexts... a moment for every hour on a dance-floor, choose your own adventure through the free spirited world of Animalia.
Berlin-based and London-raised Revivis heads fresh into 2024 with the second release on his own Santo Tomas imprint. Successfully launching the label in 2023, the rising British DJ and producer’s new body of work showcases his maturing and expanding taste in electronic sounds.Rooted in house fundamentals, Dance State is aimed squarely for the dancefloor. Its four solid groovers draw inspiration from punchy '90s house, early acid-flavoured trance, and the driving, bouncy, golden-era sound of British progressive.A1’s "All Over" uses the late-night Levantine soundscapes of Berlin’s Neukölln district as its main melodic inspo, while "Queen of Chaos" on the B1 is a straight-up homage to euphoric '90s piano moments. B2’s "Sophia" playfully wrestles with the question of AI and musical creativity by sampling Sophia, an AI entity, as it reflects on its emotions. Finally, the EP’s A2 namesake is an acid-tinged redemptive roller built to soundtrack those deeper, dancefloor workout moments that Revivis’s sets have become known for.Sleeve photography by Stephanie Elizabeth Third.

Teakup is Lauri Reponen, the Columbus, Ohio DJ, producer and torch-bearer for the city’s proud Techno heritage. Following in the footsteps of Columbus originators, Titonton Duvanté, Archetype and Todd Sines, Teakup has spent the past decade forging a sound of his own via a genre alchemy that embraces genres past and present. Hardcore’s staccato samples and chopped breakbeats, UKG’s crunchy triplet hi hats and mellifluous House melodies combine in novel forms. Titonton’s wonky Tech House takes, Todd Sines’ stripped minimalism and Archetype’s broken rhythmic exploration are more key ingredients in the Teakup stew. This recipe has cooked up a massive cache of unreleased tunes as well as previous 12”s on is / was, Residual, Shut Off Notice and Lauri’s recently-minted TKP imprint.Compiled from over 200 demos, Signal 23 has Lauri flexing a new level of genre-mastery. The title track explores Spiral Tribe’s ripping, psychedelic Freetekno. ‘Valve’ is cutting-edge rhythm hypnotism. ‘Felopzd’ loops into ecstatic trippy crescendo and ‘Pad Thai Mystic’ takes you on the spiritual voyage of late-night food delivery in middle America. Four modes, four hitters – to warm floors, open hearts or split psyches.
