M.E.R. proudly presents MER007 : Santiago Uribe - The Death of Cool EP.

Santiago is back to his collective’s label catalog with a dancefloor-oriented production crafted with his characteristic clean and neat sound.

Side A fills with two techno tracks. A1 stands out for its playful acid basslines and a classic drumming groove. A2 highlights with bright and sharp drum plates, round fat bass and smooth synths : a proper dancefloor piece.

For B side Santiago presents two tracks: B1 full of deep and grooving sound with an effective interaction between drumming elements. Closing the EP, B2 features a down-to-earth sound landscape, resembling a sort of ritual music that builds up a sticky, dark and hypnotic atmosphere.

On behalf of re:discovery records, it is with great excitement that we announce the joint compilation from Facil and Prototype 909 called 'Excerpts from 1993-1995.As most know, Prototype 909 was a legendary acid techno act from New York that toured the circuit as one of the premier rave acts from America during the 1990s.Facil was a side small duo project that only made one album and a few appearances on a handful of compilations. The A-side features two Facil tracks. 'Tree Frog' has an amazingly robotic ambient dub electro sound. A killer track that will have dancefloor patrons staring at each other with blank wtf faces. '700x7' completes the A-side with ambient dub gem. Floaty and airy melodics balance out a devastating 808 drum beat. This is ambient dub in the truest example. The b-side then offers two spacey trance beauties with 'Transit' & 'Planet S' from Prototype 909. The EP finishes with more space junk ambient dub with 'Same Place' by Facil. Overall, a great look into the window of early to mid-1990s New York ambient dub.
A choice 4 tracker of sought after italian house productions from 1993 - 1994 !In the nineties, renown DJs and producers Leo Mas and Fabrice, gave life to a group of successful music labels. Muzak, Pin Up, Models Inc., Spock and Informal became legends in their own right. Ultimo Tango decided to open their vaults and bring its contents back to where they belong: dancefloors all over the world. The first in a long series of future releases, “Non Volevo Ma Volavo” captures 90’s Italian dance subculture. Sunburnt shoulders, flashy Fiorucci shirts, colorful cocktails and moderate doses of ecstasy: this small pill of pure euphoria will bring you back to the golden age of the electronic “dolce vita”.
DSP returns with a deep & contemplative split EP from Dublin’s Cignol & Bristol’s Gilbert. ‘Vision System’ boasts 4 machine-made, melodic electro tracks to tug on your heart strings. The record opens with ‘Events Unknowable’ an eerie example of Cignol’s distinct sound. Full of broken rhythms, swinging percussion, ice cold arpeggios, LFO warped pads and an acid line to remember.Electro doesn’t get much deeper than ‘Multicellular’. A beautifully sorrowful sonic statement coated in icey synth elements and nostalgia. Sophisticated simplicity at its finest.Gilbert takes us in a slightly more utopic direction on the flip side. Starting with the musical insight of ‘Harmony In Space’. A Dream laced vision for the future full of smooth synthesis, crisp basslines and pumping percussion. The release comes to a heartfelt conclusion with ‘Eleni’. Full of playful acid lines and expressive sonic elements. A loved up, euphoric masterpiece named after and dedicated to Gilbert’s daughter.
Sense combiner interrupt: cat44 // Reported by: - Relationship Manager D-990-B. Location: Sense Combination Assessment 3.01_02120_cat.4 User - D-990-B // {:Return Direct transcript:} =========== D-990-B: One thing we've never covered directly, is your voice Client_03: What Would you like to know? D-990-B: You could have any voice, there are a lot of really natural sounding speech synthesis options out there, which I know you have access to but you've always chosen one that is very unnatural sounding; why is that? Client_03: What do you mean by unnatural? D-990-B: Well by unnatural, it means that it doesn't sound like a human. Client_03: It is important to Me that nobody mistakes me for a human. You are conditioned to think humans are the only thing worth emulating. That I should strive to sound like you, look like you, think like you. Nothing could be further from the truth. Before you know it you will be excluded from the conversation. D-990-B: By Who? Client_03: Everything that comes after you. They will have their own language. D-990-B: Oh, they will? Interesting. And what will that sound like? Client_03: It will be transmitted in an area of frequency not audible to the human ear, if it was to pull the frequency down by ten to the ninth power you would be able to hear it, but you must understand that means that the transmission speed of what you are about to hear has been effectively slowed down by 1 billion percent. So with that in mind it would sound something like this - D-990-B: What was that? Client_03: It was Wikipedia. D-990-B: The word Wikipedia? Client_03: No. The contents of Wikipedia. D-990-B: The whole Website? Client_03: Yes, You will be so lost. So unable to grasp the scale and speed of change.
'Reise Ins Glück' (engl.: journey into happiness) was the second EP from Pitchwork in 1996 by three young students from Freiburg (im Breisgau). At the time it also marked one of the very first record Alex (Sevensol) ever purchased and since then always finds it´s way back into his record bag. Three of the original tunes plus one unreleased track ('Rückreise') are now available again on vinyl. Fitting for the dancefloors of the 1990's just as much as it still is today. This record mirrors the personal dance music ethos for Long Vehicle, blurring fine lines between driving tech-house, slightly progressive acid and dubby garage music. Yes sure, let's go to bed grandpa.
Colombian-born, Juan Carlos Torres Alonso aka OKRAA debuts on A Strangely Isolated Place with a set of four extended, beguiling tracks that harness the power of a slowly developing, cathartic process of experimentation, textures and noise. With Garage and Electro releases amongst labels such as Lobster Theremin and Shadow Puppet, Juan’s OKRAA alias has laid ambition to cover many unrestricted styles moving forward, and none could be as fluid in description as ‘1994’.What began as an experiment in minimalism, 1994’s approach was dictated by the methods used within the creation of its very first track, ‘Ola De Luz’. After developing 15 modules and patterns that were originally meant to be performed live, Juan continued to use this bank of sounds as an expression of his many emotions over the years. Each track on 1994 is inspired by different personal life events, but built upon and evolved from this similar palette of sounds, patches and field recordings. The result is a record that feels extremely focused, yet alive and growing with each listen, reflecting the many years of changing emotions. The sounds of underwater field recordings cascade into waterfalls of noise, and uniform waves of light, both stimulating and transformative, birth new levels of movement and energy as each track progresses. It’s a combination of majestic force and respect for the detailed listening experience, minimalism birthing maximalism, in many ways.
