For the first release of the 10” series, we welcome Design Default to the Dome with an EP that effortlessly orbits a beautiful yet precisely constructed world. The release encapsulates the atmosphere of his previous ambient works with the energy of his left of centre club releases demonstrating the depth of output this Parisian producer is capable of.

On the A-side, we dip into his distinctive approach to sound design with glistening melodies, flourishing through an array dreamy soundscapes on Eta Aquariids. We welcome back PD favourite Sputnik One whos rework ups the energy levels with a flip certified to move the floor while maintaining the euphoria and bliss of the original.

On the B, we are again transported to unexplored worlds on the uplifting journey of Kagura where fragmented particles collide on the backdrop of uplifting otherworldly atmospheres. Takama-ga-hara reflects the lofty sacred world from which the name implies - weaving through a haze of influences giving us something beautiful, engaging and unique and following on from a tough couple of years, a positive look into the future as we move towards more freedom, connection and positivity.

XK025 sees a fresh label debut in the form of Cloudsteppers - a collaboration between Toronto based artists Ciel and Dan Only. Born out of an impromptu jam session at Dan Only's NDG 208 Studio in late 2019, the pair quickly hit it off. Ciel brought her trusty Korg ESX-1 sampler, and alongside Dan Only's arsenal of vintage synths and samplers, they quickly wrote the first two cuts of what would eventually turn into the first Cloudsteppers EP. After getting great feedback from playing them on tour and sharing with friends, the pair wrote the last two cuts when lockdown restrictions loosened during the summer of 2020.Both artists are instinctively melodically-inclined producers, so for this release they tried to focus more of their attention on the drums and fx, while limiting the amount of melodic parts in each track. Working within those parameters resulted in what is now their debut EP.Title track, “The Limit”, is a huge undulating cut of 160bpm energy - it shimmies effortlessly between skittish jungle, breakbeat and techno rhythms, centred around a tripped out sample of Manchester’s finest physicist, Brian Cox. “Slinky Bork” brings a distinctly UK Tech House flavour reminiscent of Housey Doingz, Get Fucked and others of the Wiggle/Euka House era - underpinned by a solid 4x4, subtle rhythms and spacey atmospherics abound. On the flip, “Diva Loops”goes in hard with a pounding kick, warbling bass and some massive clattering drums before breaking out into a playful melodic refrain. Closing things out, “Trigger Happy” is another functional 4x4 club cut full of skippy tech styles and punchy rhythms. A dreamy melody floats along into a tension building crescendo, complete with massive reese-ish bassline. Big!
CiM returns to Delsin with a nine track LP crafted out of his personal Amiga archives. Simon Walley started off in the early 90s trying to write Amiga demo scene music. Influenced and inspired by the blossoming techno electronica sounds in the UK around that time, he tried to replicate those sounds via old school tracker techniques. Learning through ripping modules by Romeo Knight, Audiomonster, Firefox and Mantronix from demo disks, and writing/re-writing in Protracker resulted in a unique style, creating fresh clashing beats out of tweaked Amiga samples. A 386 PC that drifted in tempo was sync'd by ear to add pads and melodies that the MIDI-less Amiga couldn't generate. Recording most of it on the fly, fooling around in Protracker and leaving all mistakes in and un-edited. All tracks written between '96-98.
After a successful first release, we are very pleased to present the next one by an icon & legend of house music. The years go by and Brian Cavender aka Seafoam does not stop impressing us with his music, these 4 tracks are accurately what we seek to capture on each release, music with that style that made us fall in love in the late '90s and early new century. The impressive thing here is that without mentioning which of these 4 tracks were made in the '90s. When we asked Brian for music and told him about our ideology he understood us perfectly and sent us a folder named "Old cuts", music made from roughly around 1995 to 2000. When we listened to the tracks we recognized that this was music created in the past but still sounds super fresh, another timeless gem for the ufo series catalog.
Sunrise Artist and Sunwaves Resident Vincentiulian next up on OGE's White series!
The Ossario EP presents four serpentine and labyrinthine techno tracks produced between 2019-20 by Andrea Bonalumi, also known as Big Hands. The title is an homage to San Bernardino alle Ossa in Bonalumi’s hometown of Milan, and personifies the ethereal and opaque atmosphere of his ouevre.Stylistically ‘Girde Maye/Astere’ embodies the interrelation between his Milanese roots and adopted home of London. Recorded one summer evening in Bow, it includes an original vocal by a Turkish immigrant, spoken in Italian - a paean to an unrealised, borderless world. This is followed by the pendulous, mutating bell tones of ’Modulo’, a fragmented and abstract epic of sublime beauty that defies easy categorisation. On ‘Oscillation’ the producer explores polyrhythms, which also functions as a tool for DJs to transition between tempos. The undulating groove of ’Cariatide’ rounds out the EP, a statement from a talented producer who deftly crafts a soundworld which is at once contemporary and historical.
Sydney-based producer and co-founder of Velodrome Recordings, PZ Specialist comes through with an energetic and forward-thinking debut 12” Rattlehats.Comprised of 4 versatile club cuts, these tracks range from trance-inspired electro to jazzed-out Balearic house. It’s a versatile EP that sees the Sydney producer blend vibrant, dreamlike synth tones with dense and playful percussion - a colourful record that remains grounded in club-focused practicality.
